Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls

Singing bowls have been in use for many hundreds of years, originally made of metal as are the gongs and tam tams. As
with other metal percussion type instruments they create the best sounds when made of an alloy of several metals. Many
of the older craftsmen keep the 'recipe' for the metal a secret, however copper is one of the main metals used in the alloy.
As with gongs some are hand beaten and others are cast.
The quartz crystal bowls have similar qualities to the metal bowls but resonate for a longer period of time and have a
more ethereal sound when played. As with other bowls they can be played by striking alone as with a bell, or they can be
stroked using a leather or rubber tool to keep them singing.
Quartz is of course one of the many amazing creations of nature and is used in many electronic applications from the
'crystal radio' to the sophisticated heart of the computer processor. Basically the bowls are made from high grade silica
that is heated to over 4,000degrees celsius to become a liquid mass that is centrifuged in a mould thus forming a solid quartz structure.
The combination of size, thickness and density allow the bowl to give off specific sound frequencies. Played individually
or in combination the sound shaman can create pure sound magic.
When used for healing work the quartz bowls can bring about a harmony within the core that lends to change within. This
in turn may bring about a healing power that will help the body to cleanse itself of dis-ease. Used together in company
with the gongs a very magical and challenging journey can take place, we may not know or
understand fully why these things take place, but the shaman will instinctively be able to create the sounds that will have
the desired effect. Miracles can and do happen.
Peter Guala is our shaman, his ability to control the bowls and the gongs is truly magical, and as with all true shamans he is
not about materialism but rather the contentment that comes by bringing harmony into the lives of others.
